SCL Health Registered Nurse Shift Specialty Coordinator ED Observation in Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Job Description:Working with department manager, the RN - Coordinator I provides leadership and clinical expertise on their respective shift and department. They are accountable for coordination of unit resources to ensure that staffing to census and acuity is appropriate both clinically and financially. They function as clinical support for staff and are a role model of competency and professionalism.

Our renovated Emergency Department is located on the most western side of the metro area, boasting a Level II Trauma Center, an accredited chest pain center, comprehensive stroke center, Senior ER, 24/7 orthopedic surgeons and state-of-the-art technology.Our 50 individual patient treatment rooms are universally designed for rapid, high-quality care and privacy while the size and layout of each patient room better accommodates our associates with specialized equipment.

Our dedicated Fast Track area is located closer to the walk-in entrance, allowing patients with less serious conditions to be served faster without impacting space availability for more acute or critical care patients. We also boast a specially-designed area intended for Behavioral Health patients, with individual rooms and a dedicated nurses' station, allowing for a more private and secure care environment.

Your day.

As an ED SSC / Charge RN, you will need to know how to:

Supervise and/or provide direct patient care. Assist and support staff in responding to and problem solving situations related to patient/ family complaints, Physician concerns, risk management, associate safety, and Hospital safety.

Respond to patient emergencies as needed. Respond as the charge or lead person for disasters.

Collaborate with the staffing office and adjust numbers of staff for census changes during the shift.

ommunicate with the oncoming Charge Nurse about census, staffing, pending admissions and discharges, any problems she/ he needs to be aware of, and any patient information that will be helpful in making assignments.

Support unit management team in managing department productivity/staffing and timekeeping, and coordinating unit activities.

Perform evaluations, coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.

Participate in hospital committees as unit representative as needed.
