Job Summary:

As part of the Manufacturing Team, the Drone Sr. Test Engineer will ensure required drone test systems are designed, developed, deployed, and maintained which will ensure our drone systems are fully tested before shipping to our customers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting UAV systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing.

  • Prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment, and complete specifications and procedures for new products.

  • Plan the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices, may be responsible for setting the parameters and testing customer samples.

  • Debug test failures both at assembly and PCB level for fresh production and RMA Systems.

  • Dis-assemble electrical and mechanical components and systems as required to complete debug root cause investigation.

  • Use test and investigation equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscope, microscope, power supplies, thermal chambers, etc. to complete failure investigations.

  • Complete deep dive investigation including debugging electrical circuits down to component level.

  • Collaborate with other functional teams during deep dive investigations.

  • Test electrical and mechanical components and systems.

  • Assist in product validation and testing when required.

  • Technical interface with suppliers to address quality, workmanship, or other technical issues

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in the field of Engineering required.

  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in an Engineering role with a focus on system development.

  • Testing experience strongly preferred.

  • Drone manufacturing/testing experience preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscopes, microscope, power supplies, thermal chambers, x-ray machine, power meters, and reference sensors.

  • Knowledge of python as well as one of the following languages: C+, C++, C-Sharp, Visual Basic is a plus.

  • Mechatronics background is an asset.

  • Ability to read circuit diagrams, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.

  • Able to solve problems from symptom to root cause.

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement / lean manufacturing concepts (5S, 8 Wastes, Kaizen, Standardized Work).

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
