The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics is looking to hire Technician B to work in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Greene. The candidate will be technical support staff for the Principal Investigator and other lab investigators, as needed.
Responsibilities
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Research will involve genetic analysis of proteins involved in homologous DNA recombination, in particular the protein Rad51, using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model system.
- Use of general molecular biology techniques, as well as the more specialized techniques involved in genetic studies of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
- Prepare laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments and maintain equipment.
- Set up equipment and carry out fully planned experiments.
- Assist in collection of samples and keep records of the results of experiments.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in yeast genetics and DNA repair mechanisms is greatly preferred.
